Baby elephant cuddles with tourist in heartwarming footage

Baby elephants are extremely adorable – that’s a given. But what not many people know about them is that they are also very playful, and with an absolute desire to cuddle with everyone’s crossing their ways. Which, by the way, only makes them even more adorable!

Another less-known fact is that, during the first months of life, the baby elephants don’t really know what to do with their trunks. And who can blame them, right? So what they typically do with their trunks is that they will swing them back and forward. Believe it or not, sometimes, they even step on them. Also, curious enough, baby elephants will suck their trunk much like baby would suck its thumb. It’s something that comforts them and helps them get more familiar with their body parts and what they are supposed to do. That’s why some caretakers would actually give young elephants pacifiers so that they don’t hurt their trunks.

That’s the theory, but if you want to see how these fun facts translate into reality, look no further than the video below. In it, a cute baby elephant mistakes a tourist’s face for a pacifier, and it’s the most adorable and funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.
