Every dog deserves a loving forever home—even those who may look a little different. Dogs with special needs often require extra care, but more than anything, they need someone who truly understands and loves them.
According to the Inland Valley Humane Society, Dane is a veteran who lost a leg during his service. After struggling with depression, his supervisor encouraged him to think about what might bring him happiness. “I’ve always had dogs, but I haven’t had one in a long time,” Dane shared with NBC Los Angeles.
When Dane met Kane, a cheerful three-legged dog, he instantly knew it was meant to be. “The moment I saw him, I fell in love,” he said. “I felt an immediate connection. Just look at him—he’s perfect.”

Dane felt a deep bond with Kane, relating to his experience. “I understand what it’s like to feel overlooked,” he added.
Now, Kane is thriving in his new home. He even accompanies Dane to work, offering constant companionship and support when it’s needed most. The Humane Society was overjoyed to see Kane find such a perfect match and shared their heartwarming story on TikTok, where it quickly went viral, gaining nearly 13 million views.
“We wish them all the best in their future adventures,” the shelter wrote.
