Engine 43 had hose laid in the street, a vehicle snagged the hose injuring the engine driver

Franklin Fire Company had a call today regarding a house fire. Engine 43 had hose laid in the street from a hydrant to a house and then an unpleasant experience resulting to a dangerous situation. Here is the story :

While on a box alarm recently, Engine 43 had hose laid in the street from a hydrant to a house. A vehicle attempted to pass Engine 43. Firefighters began yelling and waving for the person to stop. The vehicle snagged the hose and began pulling more hose off the engine causing the engine driver to be struck in the head by a 4 inch diameter hose coupling. Luckily the engine driver was not seriously injured.

While this incident was unintentional, we are sharing it to raise public awareness.

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OVER OUR HOSE OR THROUGH THE INCIDENT SCENE.
