Caring Golden Retriever comforts firefighters battling California wildfires

With the devastating wildfires continuing to rage all over California, the brave firefighters may have just reach the point of exhaustion. But they always find the strength and the morale to start again the next day. That’s due to the massive support and appreciation they receive from everyone. Among them a very special therapy dog.

Kerith is a 2-year-old Golden Retriever and apparently her job is to comfort people and to bring them smiles on their faces. Amid the California wildfires, Kerith is focused on boosting the firefighters’ morale. The affectionate dog spreads love and optimism among those who’re risking their own lives to save other – firefighters.

“Kerith is a very special dog with endless love and affection to share with all who meet her and her favorite people are firefighters,” Heidi Carmen, Kerith’s owner told CNN. ” She’s boosting morale during the crew’s morning briefing. Kerith brings a sense of playfulness even though they know the task of the day will be challenging.”

The friendly Golden Retriever was initially trained to be a guide dog for people with disabilities, but due to her energetic spirit, Kerith failed the tests. It is when Carmen and her family adopted the sweet dog. However, Kerith had later became a certificated therapy dog and her job is to bring comfort to first responders. And her affection is so appreciated.

“One firefighter told me ‘Kerith has the uncanny ability to make me feel like I am the most important person in the world,'” Carmen said. “While another firefighter from central Marin said, ‘This was the best base camp ever because Kerith was there.'” Now Kerith is raising spirits among firefighters battling California wildfires and she’s doing a great job!
