Meta’s Facebook and Instagram faced widespread technical issues on Tuesday, leading to numerous users encountering difficulties accessing the social media services. Reports of “Facebook down” surged, with users expressing problems like unexpected logouts. Upon attempting to log back in, they encountered error messages such as “Something went wrong. Please try again.” Downdetector, a monitoring service, recorded a sharp increase in error reports just after 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, surpassing 500,000 by 11 a.m.
Furthermore, Instagram users also experienced issues, noting that their feeds were not refreshing. The impact of the outage extended to Meta’s Messaging platform and Threads, the Twitter-like app launched last year, further emphasizing the widespread nature of the “Facebook down” situation.
