Homeless woman refuses to go to shelter, because they don’t allow her dogs

We call dogs men’s best friends, because of their loyalty and unconditional love. But do we repay back their incredible faithfulness? Well, probably most of us won’t, but this woman certainly does!

Omar Camarillo

In a series of heartbreaking photos, photographer Omar Camarillo captured an old woman living on the streets of Tijuana in Mexico, protecting herself from the cold an rain with nothing but a plastic bag. Even disturbing, the story behind it is just heartwarming. A honest display of love and compassion. Although the old lady do have a choice to move into a shelther, she refuses to do so because she simply cannot leave behind her true companions – six dogs.

The woman, a 65-year-old local named Luz Maria Olmedo Beltran. also known as ‘Chole,’ is been living on the streets for 8 years and despite the tough conditions she has to endure, the only thing she really cares are her loyal furry friends. She always make sure her dogs have something to eat and then she worries about her.

When Camarillo surprised the moving scenes, Chole was approached by the local police. Even though the officers nearly begged her to come into a shelther, she refused. And the reason is incredible – the shelther won’t allow her beloved dogs in.

“I don’t want to go, I don’t need help, I’m fine here,” she reportedly said to the officers.

The woman, eventually accepted to stay at her son’s place overnight, but in the next morning she was seen back in the street, next to her dogs. Her touchign story went viral on Facebook and many people decided to help the woman. Among them Alejandra Cordova Castro, who was so impressed by Chole’s devotion to her loyal friends.

Also helped by many other people, the 65-year-old woman is now staying at a shelter. Although the conditions there are pretty poor, she is more than happy as she was able to bring her dogs with her, too!
