Residents of Buffalo, New York aided in the rescue of 16 birds that were trapped in ice along the waterfront of LaSalle Park following a deadly blizzard that struck the area over the weekend.

Seamus Gallivan and Alex McArthur said they wanted to help others in any way they could while the city was immobilized by the historic winter storm, which left them without power for 56 hours as a record 51 inches of snow fell.
