Woman tearfully reunites her stolen Husky after two years

A heartbreaking story turned into an epic reunion between a missing dog and the woman who never stopped searching for him. After more than two years, restless efforts and tons of hope, the two have finally seen each other once again, and the moment is nothing short of adorable!

Kameroun Mares and her beloved dog have first met in 2013. Back then, the adorable Husky was just a puppy and Kameroun was looking for a companion more than ever as she was fighting with severe form of cancer. She named her adorable furry friend Semper Fidelis, which means ‘Always faithful’ in Latin. And Semper was always faithful to the woman that loved him more than anything in this world.

However, in 2016 something terrible happened. Kameroun had to travel to California to continue her treatment and she left Semper in the care of her roommate, but shortly after she got a call that left her in tears. Her beloved Husky had gone missing!

Devastated, Kameroun had desperately tried to find Semper. She posted flyers and announcements everywhere, including online, but it seemed that her dog vanished. Fortunately, the woman never lost her hope and a year after Semper gone missing she never gave up in searching for him. She even contacted a private investigator, Ana Campos for help. It’s when she found out something extremely strange.

“For a year, I continued searching while in California, posting up fliers via pet sites, calling 15 vet places around were I used to live over there about him, calling the humane societies about him, shelter,” Kameroun shared with THE DODO. “When [I] asked Ana Campos for more help, she suggested to check her AKC Reunite chip again. So she went to the humane society in May 2017 and they checked online … That is when she discovered that a year earlier, on April 11, 2016, a woman added her name to Semper’s chip.”

It turned out that company that microchipped Semper the second time, never checked if he had a chip or a previous owner already. Shortly after, Semper was listed for sale on Craigslist for $200. That’s why Semper had never showed up.

But finally after two and a half years and a lot of tears Kameroun and Semper were about to see each other in a very emotional reunion. “Being able to play a role in this reunion and being present was one of the best days of my life. I see him as extension of myself and my heart,” Kameroun said. “I am glad I have him back in my arms!”

It turned out that Kameroun’s ex-roommate had taken and eventually sold Semper. “He was stolen and sold by her roommate 2 1/2 years ago,” Ana Campos wrote in a Facebook post. “She was told he was lost on April 30, 2016. But on April 11, 2016 the buyer added their name to his AKC Reunite ‘registered chip’. They registered this registered chip on Petkey pets instead. Petkey pets did not bother to see if he was chipped already.
